YeOldeFarteGreetings!  I am trying to run Freeorion 0.3.11 on my Archlinux box, and I get an error message saying I don't have python 2.5.  It is right.  I have python 2.6 and can't downgrade to python 2.5 in pacman.  What can I do?18:25
GeofftheMedioI had a look at the forum post about the statically linked version, and I don't see any mention of this.18:29
GeofftheMedioI imagine kroddn knows about it though18:29
GeofftheMediohis forum post says there's supposed to be a fallback if python 2.5 isn't found, but it seems not to be working in your case18:30
YeOldeFarteI tried creating a symlink between the file it was looking for and its equivalent in python 2.6.  This did not work.18:32
YeOldeFarteAgreed.  Is there an md5sum available to check the integrity of my download?18:33
GeofftheMedionot that I know of.18:34
GeofftheMedioI doubt that's the issue, though18:34
YeOldeFarteThanks anyway.18:34
GeofftheMediostick around IRC or post on the forums.  you should get a reply from kroddn within a day... hopefully within a few hours18:35
STalKer-Xprobably tomorrow unless he is still awake now :)18:36
YeOldeFarteI think my mistake.18:38
GeofftheMedioa forum post by kroddn says he put python2.5 shared objects in the archive.  I haven't looked at how the download he provides is structured, but the file you need might be in there.18:38
YeOldeFartelibpython2.5.so.1.0 => not found18:38
YeOldeFartepython2.5 missing. Using shipped version.18:38

YeOldeFarteAL lib: alBuffer.c:1097: exit() 2 Buffer(s) NOT deleted18:38
GeofftheMediohmm.  that looks like an OpenAL problem18:39
YeOldeFarteI just ran it in terminal--the preceding post is the output.  I looks like a problem with AL.18:39
YeOldeFarteSorry about the misidentification.18:40
GeofftheMediono harm done...18:40
GeofftheMediodid a freeorion.log get generated?18:41
YeOldeFarteno.18:42
YeOldeFarteI'm using openal 0.0.8-418:43
GeofftheMedioaccording to kroddn's post, openal should be statically linked into the FO binary.  I assume that means the version you have doesn't matter.  (although I don't really know)18:47
GeofftheMediowhere did you look for freeorion.log?18:49
GeofftheMedioI think it's supposed to be created in ~/.freeorion/18:49

GeofftheMedioyou wouldn't think that making a single tooltip would take several days of work...22:27
GeofftheMediobut it does22:27
