xfxfmithro: do you know what would be involved making an open hardware SDI grabber?  I assume some work from hdmi2usb could be reused?01:02
xfxfSDI is infinitely more useful when integrating with an existing AV system - especially if it doesn't work with DVI spec video signals01:02
xfxfI'm finding myself shoving in a scaler anywhere that uses HDMI to SDI converters as part of their in-house cabling otherwise it won't work01:03
xfxfwould prefer not to do that01:03
xfxfI'd assume on an opsis V2 board the manafacturing costs of adding SDI connectors is purely the physical connector and tuning it back to pins on the FPGA?01:04

mithroxfxf: About 50k02:01
mithroxfxf: Get me 50k USD and I'll do you SDI hardware02:05
xfxflol like I have 50k02:09
xfxfAlso I'm taking theoretical, I'm aware of the time/budget constraints02:09
mithroxfxf: Basically it is too much of a distraction unless we get someone volunteers to work on it or we can get enough money to make it happen02:19
xfxfnot asking if you can do it, asking what is technically involved. I'm not expecting it as HDMI is the primary use case02:22
Joelw_Technically, it doesn't sound too tricky. Just need an FPGA with GTP/GTH transceivers and some front-end circuitry, and then some adaptation module to change the SMPTE SDI core's output to match the HDMI core's output02:38
mithroJoelw_: that is the easy part, the hard part if making it compatible with all the devices out there02:58
mithroJoelw_: oh, and you'd need to rewrite the smpte_sdi core otherwise you can't open source it02:58
Joelw_xfxf only specified open hardware! :)03:39

SamSagaZhey guys, we want to purchase some routers to use in pycamps and pycon16:26
SamSagaZsome model to recommend me?16:26
SamSagaZask here because you have experience recording events,16:27
SamSagaZlast year i record latest PyconAR and quality was horrible16:28
SamSagaZas i say a few months ago here, we are thinking about use TimVideo for next events, but now needs to purchase ASAP a router to use next week in the pycamp16:29
CarlFKrouters ?16:29
SamSagaZyes16:29
SamSagaZnetwork routers16:29
SamSagaZwe know about some brands but maybe some of you know some that works well16:29
CarlFKI have always used Netgear - some say it is crappy home stuff, but it has worked good enough for me16:30
paddatrapperDebconf also uses quite a bit of netgear stuff16:31
CarlFKI suggest you spend less time on selecting a router and more time on the ... setup?16:32
SamSagaZi used linksys16:32
SamSagaZok, thanks CarlFK and paddatrapper16:32
CarlFKjust a few hours ago I have my ansible stuff working 'perfectly'16:33
CarlFKhttps://github.com/CarlFK/video-stack-deploy16:33

CarlFKhmm, the pxe setup works.  now to test the vocto setup still works16:34
CarlFKanyway, if you are going to record, you should get familiar with this stuff16:35
SamSagaZthanks guys16:50

CarlFKtumbleweed: I seem to have removed the ansible that adds the repot to get vocto from.   Where would you expect to see that?18:35
tumbleweedCarlFK: find the commit that removed it :)18:52
CarlFKtumbleweed: I don't really know what it is I am looking for... like for lca, any idea what the source was?  git/ppa/testing?18:54
tumbleweedPPA18:55
tumbleweedI'd point you at the code, but alioth is down :P18:56
CarlFKansible/roles/apt/tasks/main.yml 15:- name: add timvideos ppas19:19
tumbleweedthat's the one19:39
CarlFKtumbleweed: pretty sure the answer is: I need to add the host to the onsite: group? too, in addition to voctomix: https://github.com/CarlFK/video-stack-deploy/blob/master/site.yml#L3319:45
tpbTitle: video-stack-deploy/site.yml at master · CarlFK/video-stack-deploy · GitHub (at github.com)19:45
CarlFKor I can add apt to vocto19:46
tumbleweedCarlFK: what package is this for?20:13
CarlFKvoctomix20:14
tumbleweedthat's not packaged20:14
CarlFKumm.. yes it is.20:15
tumbleweedoh, vocto, sorry20:16
tumbleweedwhy would vocto not be onsite?20:16
CarlFKbecause it is in my living room :D20:16
tumbleweedsounds onsite to me20:16
CarlFKIm still getting accustom to ansible ways20:17
tumbleweedthe onsite role is so that we could also target long-lived server infrastructure20:20
tumbleweedyou can imagine that some things (e.g. apt sources) would be different onsite20:20
CarlFKI think I follow20:22
tumbleweedthis is all pretty vague, because it's designed to be somewhat reusable, given local definitions of things20:23
CarlFKah right. this stuff is normally used for a more well defined ... system.20:24
CarlFKnot "lets see how things come together when we show up"20:24
