mithronueces: You have email - looks like you are struggling with a couple of issues simultaneously :(04:20
CarlFKmithro:  re: nueces's reports,  is there anything worth logging on the firmware version doc?04:26
mithroCarlFK: not sure05:44

xfxfmithro: re your email reply to nueces, not a single one of my cameras looks at EDID data for resolution provided.  they just shove out whatever resolution they're set to in their menu07:43
xfxfand there's no 'auto' on any of them, it always specify res to output07:43
mithroxfxf: Well, nueces's camera has "480 or auto" as the only two options listed in the menu07:44
mithroxfxf: Shouldn't you be on a plane?07:45
xfxfI am, delayed flight07:46
xfxfAuto probably isn't auto, I'd be super dubious over what it actually does07:46
xfxfiirc the xa30 has Auto too but it really means that same interlaced res07:47
mithroxfxf: He linked the manual if you want to go and look at the output07:47
mithroxfxf: But if nueces is getting 720p output on a normal TV and *not* on the Opsis in auto mode, then it must be reading the EDID in some way07:48
mithroxfxf: I was worried that maybe you had missed your flight :-P07:50
mithrobblr, getting food08:02

xfxfmithro: sure the TV just doesn't support interlaced input but shows it as 720p instead of 720i?09:19
xfxfI say this from observation, not actually inspecting what is happening on the devices, so I may be wrong, but my cameras all seem to ignore it and spit out the same HDMI signal no matter what09:20
xfxfIIRC I tested this with a HDMi splitter once, opsis said that wierd res, my monitor said 720p09:21
mithroxfxf: the weird res probably meant WER wasn't zero09:21

xfxfmithro: did you ever have any working code / know the protocol for that smaller Canon PTZ camera?14:51
xfxfi worked around the gstreamer type issue by writing a super hacky set of regexes/list comprehensions on its string casting method, which i'm not too proud about but it works14:51
xfxfand have it working on v4l2 video piped into it from the camera, just need to write the library for controlling it14:51
xfxf(the facedetect script, i mean)14:52

mithroxfxf: I think so in the speaker track branch of gst switch I think15:21
mithroxfxf: do you have the Canon or the Sony?15:24
xfxfthe canon15:24
mithroLittle grey one?15:24
xfxfyes15:26
xfxfVC-C50i15:26
mithroThey claim to be VISCA but don't work with libvisca that works with the Sony ones15:27
mithroI can try and look up more info tomorrow15:28
xfxfi found a windows program that controls it + just dumped a bunch of stuff off it and found the manual16:05
xfxfso i think i can figure it out, but if you have something you can provide tomorrow, that would be great16:05
xfxfi can already see getting basic stuff working shouldn't be too difficult, but getting it working *well* is going to take quite some mastery of each PVZ cameras commands and figuring out good algorithms to map speaker tracking to fluent camera movements16:07
xfxfactually, how much variance is there between PVZ cameras, command-wise?  i'm guessing a reasonable amount16:08
xfxf(not the protocol, the actual commands that the protocols translate into - guessing it's mostly up to individual vendors)16:09
