automaticalHey all, I'm currently working with an opsis and I'm wondering if anyone could point me in right direction. I've got the board routing video to both an external hdmi device and via usb to mplayer, but for some reason - I can'get get vlc, or ffmpeg to display/capture video from the advice. Any advice? I'm following the information at: https://github.com/timvideos/HDMI2USB/wiki/Viewing21:22

CarlFKautomatical: what do you mean "via usb to mplayer"  ?21:22
CarlFKoh wait, mplayer works, vlc does not?21:23
automaticalyea21:23
automaticalsorry, should have just said that :)21:23
CarlFKwell.. does it really matter?21:23
automaticalI also can't get ffmpeg to work, which is my end goal21:24
CarlFKI've always use gstreamer21:24
automaticalI figured if I could figure out why vlc wasn't working, I might also figure out the ffmpeg issue21:24
automaticalah21:24
automaticalgstreamer would be fine, effectively anything I can use to send video over a socket would be enough21:24
CarlFKok, welcome to my mess.    here is a failed attempt at mocking up a simple version of the mixing system21:26

CarlFKcore server - normally takes many ins, mixes, ans sends mixed stream to file sink client21:27
automaticalthanks, I'll have a look :)21:27
CarlFKbut that doesn't work.  which is fine, I was just trying to make it easier to debug client problem21:27
CarlFKif you can get what I was trying to do... then the real client  use may make sense:21:28

automaticalyea, i've got a rough idea - If I can get that to work for this it would be ideal :)21:30
automaticalnever messed with gstreamer for these things tbh21:30
CarlFKwhat do you mean by "send video over a socket" ?21:31
automaticaljust over the network somehow21:31
automaticalmy initial plan was to use ffserver21:31
CarlFKis this for live streaming?21:39
automaticalmainly for video capture, but we're hoping we can do streaming too21:39
automaticalwe've normally used dvswitch in the past, so looking to use a similar workflow21:39

CarlFKpfft - there you go.21:40
automaticalpotentially using voctomix21:40
CarlFKhot of the press, the main vocto dev.21:40
automaticalawesome, didn't realise that someone had done a talk on it21:40
automaticalyea21:40
automaticala video on vocto, recorded with vocto :)21:40
CarlFKI think he did that about 24 hours ago21:41
automaticalyea, the c3voc workflow is really quick21:41

CarlFKthats your best bet for getting something you can see and click on21:42
automaticalcool, thanks21:42
automaticalCarlFK: thanks for your help on this tonight - I've now managed to get video recording using gstreamer, which is awesome21:57
CarlFKyay!21:57
automaticalalthough being sensible - I need to head off to bed now, but I'll be back at this tomorrow hopefully :)21:58
CarlFKI'm here most of the time21:58
automaticalawesome, thanks21:58
