plasmabHi, really sorry to bother. I've done my best to get this working without help but i seem to be stuck. I have a Digilent Atlys. I've programmed the FPGA with a few of the bit files and I see the colour bars ok. I have both micro-USB ports connected to my PC but i've no idea what i do now. The COM ports appear as usual but the read-edid stuff finds nothing in linux. I've tried Windows 10 too but i think i am missing somthing here.14:10
plasmab(probably should mention i'm trying to get the hdmi2usb working - its really unclear which USB port the data is expected on since the PROG usb is connected to the JTAG only on my board).14:20

tumbleweedplasmab: you need to load the fx2 firmware too14:45
tumbleweederr I meant to say lm3214:45
tumbleweedit's the .hex file14:46
plasmabok i'll investigate that14:54
plasmabthankyou14:54
CarlFKplasmab: in 30 min or so I'll verify that my setup scrips still work (a bit of shuffling took place 2 weeks ago)14:58
plasmabCarlFK: thanks. I've just been using the prebuilt archives. Mainly my experience of using the Atlys has been compiling things with ISE or flashing them with Adept. If there are things needed in the flash as well as a programming file wouldnt it be easier to generate a single mcs file?15:02
CarlFKplasmab: beats me - I am just a user15:07

CarlFKyou will need the apps that are in sudo apt-add-repository --yes ppa:timvideos/fpga-support15:08
plasmabthanks.15:09
CarlFKHmm.. device=$HDMI2USB  is expected to be /dev/video015:11
plasmabthe instructions on site could do with updating.15:14
seaLneplasmab: did you see https://github.com/timvideos/HDMI2USB-misoc-firmware/tree/master/scripts15:20

plasmabnope. a link from the getting started part for the atlys would be useful if anyone has the ability to add it.15:21
plasmabits currently blank15:21
plasmaband there a bunch of dead links on the site15:21
CarlFKseaLne: the result of that is the 2 commands in atlys_setup.sh15:22
seaLneah15:22
CarlFKonly it takes about an hour to gather/build everything15:22
seaLneyesterday i finally found a couple of devices that actually let me capture them, nothing before did anything which was rather demoralising15:26
plasmabokay, call me very very thick. but i cant see a JP2 on my board.15:26
seaLnenot sure if that is for opsis?15:26
plasmabits mentioned on the Atlys page15:27
seaLneah15:27
plasmabI do have a very early version of the board though15:27
*** plasmab_ has joined #timvideos15:33
CarlFKplasmab - oh yeah, I think we concluded there was no JP2 (or some jumper that was listed)15:34

plasmab_i'm rebooting15:34
plasmab_or i was. trying to get virtualbox to pickup my programming port15:35
CarlFKI'll take a picture of mine that was used in production, so Im guessing it is setup right15:35
plasmab_Thanks. Mine has the older version of the PIC on it :(15:35
plasmab_There is a "quick setup script" that is linked from the setup pages.. https://github.com/timvideos/HDMI2USB-firmware-prebuilt/blob/master/setup.sh15:44

plasmab_CarlFX thank18:24
plasmab_I'm not going to do anything until i can find a way to reprogram the cypress back to its original settings.18:28
CarlFKplasmab_: are you sure a power cycle won't reset it?18:34
plasmab_I dont have a pure linux box. So i've been trying to map the digilent usb device to my linux dev vm. It never works. I'm also not sure i want to flash the cypress chip at all.18:34
CarlFKatlys_setup.sh doesn't flash it into.. nvram?  or eprom.  power cycle resets it. but I can't help with the VM stuff so pfft.18:40
plasmab_ok thanks. yeah i'll try it with a different machine at some point19:19
plasmab_all my true linux machines are arm based raspberry pi type machines19:19

deeprave@mithro https://github.com/deeprave/hdmi2usbd : still have some functionality to implement, but the basic serial<->ip functionality is now mostly there. Probably plenty to debug still, but don't have a device with me to work with (in qld at the moment), so more to come next week when i get back.23:36
