CarlFKxobs: https://workshop.fomu.im/   how current or useful is is?   like should it get me to hacker-foboot-v2.0.3.dfu ?21:32
tpbTitle: fomu-workshop | Support files for participating in a Fomu workshop (at workshop.fomu.im)21:32
xobsCarlFK: you can use 2.0.3 with the workshop.21:50
xobsIn the next month or two, I'll change it from micropython to circuitpython, which will necessitate foboot-2.0+. But for now, either works.21:51
CarlFKxobs: k - that;s what I was wondering about.  all of that.    I'm hoping to do a mini workshop at the local hackerspace that is pretty much walk though the workshop21:52
CarlFKit's a hassle when the workshop notes get out of date21:52
CarlFKwell. when the workshop notes are broken21:53
xobsYeah. 2.0 is nicer because it's faster, too.22:12
CarlFKxobs: did you see https://blog.adafruit.com/2019/12/04/icymi-circuitpython-newsletter-mp3-decoding-circuitpython-snakes-its-way-to-fomu-nxp-and-more-python-adafruit-circuitpython-icymi-circuitpython-micropython-thepsf-adafruit/22:57

xobsCool!23:09
CarlFKhow do I load foboot and circuitpython onto fomu so it persists over power off?23:12
CarlFKand what are the right words for that question?23:12
ovfi was also thinking about doing a workshop at the south london makerspace (a classic: those who can, do; those who can't, teach) but one of the non-technical problems is that pvt fomus are a bit too expensive to give out and too cute not to...23:28
CarlFKI think charging $40 for the cost is fine23:29
CarlFKI buy Adafrut CPXs .. 10x $25 for $250 to have with me at all times and sell off for $2523:30
CarlFKlast week I sold one to my taxi driver23:30
CarlFKI think I am on my 3rd set, so I can kinda say: buy 10 fomu's, loan them out and sell them to anyone that wants to keep them23:31
ovfalternatively i got a super cheap 2x5 port usb hub so i could make one very expensive christmas ornament with my ten fomus. which reminds me: what is a not-completely-against-usb-spec way of networking several fomus? anything more symmetric than an otg fomu plugged into a powered hub? it looks like at some point (usb 1.1) some of the hub could actually be switches?23:36
xobs<CarlFK "how do I load foboot and circuit"> There isn't a way to auto boot circuitpython yet. I'm open to suggestions on how to do that...23:56
xobsBut to load foboot-2.0 permanently, load the -updater for your board from23:57

tpbTitle: foboot/releases/v2.0.3 at master · im-tomu/foboot · GitHub (at github.com)23:57
xobs<ovf "alternatively i got a super chea"> If a hub supports usb-2.0, then it has to have Transaction Translators (TT) to translate between HS and LS/FS. If they have one per port, then they're switches. If they have one per hub, then they're more like hubs.23:59
