xobsJust an informal survey -- how many people here have tried Foboot v2.0.3 and/or circuitpython?00:11
xobs(Specifically, Circuitpython on Fomu).00:11

CarlFKme!00:44
CarlFKI have v2.0.2 on my fomu if that counts for anything00:45
xobsCarlFK: The only change between v2.0.2 and v2.0.3 was that I fixed the IRQ storm, so it should work on your Intel machine now.  Thanks for reporting that bug!00:53

TomKeddiexobs: I just put v2.0.3 on 8 of the evt1 boards you left at teardown.  It seems to work well.  I do see quite a number of initial boot failures though - pressing the reset button fixes this.  Not sure if this is hw specific though, seems to happen on all of them.  I tried touching up the pll reset code but made no difference.  I'll try circuitpython all 8 now.03:07
TomKeddieDigging in a little more, even though the led doesn't blink, the usb is attempting to connect.  See https://pastebin.com/5nNEe7pz  Again this is evt1 not sure if that is relevant.  I've re-reworked all the boards and I think they're good but you mentioned p/s issues at one point.03:11

xobsTomKeddie: That's concerning.  Thanks for the report.03:14
xobsWeird that it's trying to connect but the LED doesn't blink.03:15
xobsIt literally sets up the LED before anything else, including trying to connect to USB: https://github.com/im-tomu/foboot/blob/master/sw/src/main.c#L21103:16

xobsWhich means either it's actually working but immediately trying to reconfigure with a bad image, or it's failing to configure at initial poweron.03:18
TomKeddieI tried my hacker board, circuitpython boots fine - it's like a miracle, all those usb descriptors!  I do get some errors when I do lsusb -d 1209:5bf0 -v03:31
TomKeddieprobably something you haven't got to yet.03:32
TomKeddiecan't get device qualifier: Resource temporarily unavailable03:32
TomKeddiecan't get debug descriptor: Resource temporarily unavailable03:32
TomKeddieOnce I build my openvizsla I'll be able to help you morre.03:32
mithroTomKeddie: are you running as root?03:32
TomKeddieno but I have the udev rules in place, I'll try as root.03:33
TomKeddieSame errors (Hi Tim).03:33
TomKeddieSorry I wasn't very clear there, I get pages of output from lsusb PLUS those errors.03:36
TomKeddieHere is the full output, the errors are inline about 40 lines from the end.  https://pastebin.com/hCT2pm8V03:37

xobsI'd imagine those errors are due to speed issues in tinyusb.  The SPI flash really could use a lot of optimization.03:42
xobsI'm mostly concerned about foboot not coming up -- if that doesn't work, then people can't update their boards.03:42
TomKeddieAck, this is on linux 5.3.0-19.03:45

TomKeddiexobs: I think I found something interesting.  It's something to do with the order in which the pins make contact with the connector.  I have the evt1 plugged into a short extension cable, if I unplug/plug the extension cable from the pc and leave the evt1 alone then it comes up every time.  If I unplug/plug the evt1 it fails frequently.  I'm not sure whether you can reproduce this.  I'll try to make a small video tomorrow.05:03
xobsHmm... That's very good information.  I did make the PCB slightly wider in EVT2+ because I noticed it could slide back and forth and not make good contact.05:06
