zhurGeofftheMedio: it builds07:57
zhurshould I check if the game runs? :)07:57
GeofftheMedioas in gg builds, can install, and then fo builds and links OK with that gg?07:58
GeofftheMediodo the new options work?07:58
GeofftheMedioand did you clean completely and rebuild?  cause i removed some files from the default bulld, but dunno how the linking would work with that on your system...07:59
GeofftheMediowould it find and use old object files even if the cmakelists excluded them?07:59
zhurGeofftheMedio: well, it complained something about my CMakeCache.txt so I removed it07:59
zhurlet me then try to get the clean sources first07:59
Nagilum_warnings during 5389 build: http://ln-s.net/+6al08:16
zhurGeofftheMedio: sorry, I haven't finished the building and I got to go now - seems like GG builds normally from the clean sources with and without a new option08:26
GeofftheMediok. thanks.08:26
zhurGeofftheMedio: will report when I have the game compiled :)08:26
GeofftheMediothat would be nice08:26

GeofftheMedioCan you put the SVN revision in the filename to download?08:57
GeofftheMedioalso, replying to the thread when you put up a new build is helpful so people can tell when it happens09:00
GeofftheMediootherwise they'd have to (but wouldn't) keep checking the first post or even redownloading to see if the build changed...09:01

Nagilum_I'm still pondering about the best way to do this caching of the extracted game, I don't like the commandline option too much because it means I have to mess with the options which are also passed on to freeorion itself, maybe I should do 'caching-by-default', if an extracted version exists I would would fork off a small background process and run the game, the background process then extracts10:59
Nagilum_the archive and checks if the cached version needs updating, if it does it will set a flag and exit, if it doesn't it will clean up and exit. Then in the main script, once the game has exited I'll check if an update is needed and update if needed before exiting10:59
GeofftheMediois there a reason it has to extract and run in a separate location?11:00
GeofftheMediowhy can't you just package what currently goes into the temp dir and have people unpack and run that?11:00
Nagilum_the idea was to have just one exe for all11:01
Nagilum_not a deb, a pkg, a rpm etc.11:01
GeofftheMediojust make a tar.gz containing the files?11:02
Nagilum_still too scary for many I think11:02
Nagilum_I wanted it to be as easy as possible11:03
GeofftheMedioI don't think "unpack somewhere, run "freeorion" " is particularly complicated...11:03
GeofftheMediothey already have to unpack the .tar.gz to get the binary you made...11:03
*** guini has quit IRC11:04
Nagilum_you have to be root to place it somewhere outside your $HOME or /tmp11:04
Nagilum_GeofftheMedio: which is why I preferred just having the exe ;)11:04
GeofftheMedioso they can put it in $HOME then if they don't want to run as root11:05
Nagilum_the tgz was just to include the readme.txt, but I could also display that during startup11:05
Nagilum_hmm, the update check can simplified a lot if I just include a rev. number11:09
GeofftheMediostill think it should just be an unpack and run thing...11:10
Nagilum_give me some time to let the idea sink in ;)11:11
